Deleting your data

Costfolio has three kinds of “delete”, and they are separate actions. Here is exactly what each one removes.

Deleted data cannot be brought back through normal use of the app. If there are fixed costs you want to keep, export them as CSV first.

Request account deletion without the app

Use the dedicated request form if you cannot use the deletion action in Costfolio. Submitting the form only starts the request. It does not verify that you own the account and does not mean deletion is complete. We will contact you if identity verification or another step is needed.

Do not send passwords, verification codes, payment details, subscription records or CSV data. A Google Play subscription that may still renew or charge must be resolved before deletion. An Apple subscription does not prevent immediate deletion after the warning described below. If a store state cannot be confirmed, deletion is paused until the check succeeds. Retry or contact Support if the state remains unavailable.

1. Clear the data on this device

  • Removes the Costfolio data stored on this device.
  • Leaves your cloud backup, your Costfolio account, and the Apple or Google account you sign in with untouched.
  • If you use cloud save, you may be able to restore afterwards. What comes back is the last backup that saved cleanly, so export anything you need as CSV before you clear.

2. Delete your Costfolio account and its cloud data

  • Removes your account, cloud save, registered devices, profile, current consent state, and the account data used to provide purchases and access.
  • Does not remove the data stored on this device. To clear that too, do step 1 separately.
  • Signing back in later with the same Apple or Google account does not bring deleted data back.
  • There is no separate user-facing action to delete only the cloud save while keeping the Costfolio account.

What happens depends on the purchasing store

Google Play: if Cloud Pass may still renew, a charge may be retried, or a purchase is pending, account deletion is paused until Google Play confirms that future charging has stopped. Manage or check the subscription in Google Play first.

Apple: a known Apple subscription does not block immediate account deletion. Costfolio shows a warning because deleting the account does not cancel the Apple subscription, and charges may continue. Cancellation and refund requests remain separate actions with Apple.

If either store confirms that auto-renewal is off but paid time remains, deletion can go ahead. You lose the remaining Costfolio access and cloud data, and no refund is issued automatically.

What is kept afterwards

A limited record of the deletion itself stays in Costfolio's systems, so the same request is not run twice and so billing, refund, fraud-prevention, or legal queries can be answered. These limited records do not contain the deleted cloud save, notes, or fixed-cost details.

3. Things you do outside Costfolio

  • Deleting your Apple ID or Google account itself is done in Apple's or Google's own settings. Deleting a Costfolio account does not delete those accounts.
  • Cancelling, changing or querying a refund for Cloud Pass is done with the store you bought from. Deleting rows or data in Costfolio is not a cancellation request to the App Store or Google Play.
  • Copies in iCloud, Google Drive, or a device backup are governed by those services — check their settings. Costfolio cannot guarantee that an OS backup or device migration alone transfers its data correctly, so check cloud save and any CSV copy you need before moving devices.

Export and restore

  • CSV gives you the current list of fixed costs in a form a spreadsheet can open. It is meant to be read and edited, not to restore everything.
  • Costfolio does not offer the underlying cloud-save data as a downloadable backup file.
  • To bring back contract history and review logs as well, you need a restore from cloud save while it is still available.
  • After Cloud Pass ends, cloud data can be restored through the end of the 30-day recovery period shown in the app. After that deadline it cannot be restored.
  • As long as data is still on this device, you can export CSV regardless of your Cloud Pass or account status.
